Alyssa Ng Marn-Ling

Alyssa graduated from the University of Northumbria at Newcastle-upon-Tyne, United Kingdom with LLB (Hons.) in 2007 and in the same year, she pursued the Bar Vocation Course with the same university. She was called to the English Bar in March 2009 as a Barrister-at-Law (Middle Temple), London. In January 2011, she returned to Malaysia from the United Kingdom and a month later, she joined Messrs. Ghazi & Lim in Butterworth, Penang as a pupil reading in chambers. Upon completion of her pupillage and admission to the Penang Bar as an Advocate & Solicitor in December 2011, she was retained with the same firm as a legal assistant then senior legal assistant for a period of 10 years. Her main practice area was conveyancing which includes projects, sub-sale, consumer and commercial banking facilities and tenancies, and wills and probate.

After leaving the practice scene in Penang in December 2021, Alyssa joined Messrs. J.M. Chong, Vincent Chee & Co.’s Klang office in January 2022 as a senior legal associate whereby she worked in the real estate department handling sub-sale and perfection matters. She was then made a partner of the firm in January 2024. With the new role, she handles and oversees real estate matters within the firm in particular sub-sale transactions which involves drafting, preparation and advising clients on complex sale and purchase agreements of high transactional valued properties, commercial buildings, hypermarkets and/or lands, retail tenancy and leasing matters for major developers in Klang Valley for retail neighbourhood malls, drafting and vetting of commercial service agreements for clients, wills and probate etc.

She is also appointed as the Klang office’s AMLTFA Compliance Officer from March 2023 where she oversees the firm’s compliance to the AMLTFA laws and policies and provides regular training sessions to all lawyers and staffs within the firm.

PROFESSIONAL AFFILIATION

A member of the Conveyancing Practice Committee of the Malaysian Bar Council since term 2019/2020, 2021/2022, and 2023/2024
